FAQs
What Else Do You Need to Use Pinsta for Taking Photographs?
In order to take photographs with a Pinsta camera, you can use anything in 4x5inch / 8x10inch format, but we recommend Harman Direct Positive paper. You will then need a suitable developer and fixer for your paper. Take a look at the First Call Photographic website for suitable paper and chemistry for your kit.
How Much Does It Cost to Ship Internationally?
When delivering to the US, shipping will cost approximately $23. For deliveries in the UK, shipping will cost around £7.50. For a more detailed price for delivery, please continue to cart.
How Do You Calculate Exposure Time With an 8x10 Pinhole Back?
To know how long your exposure time should be when using an 8x10 pinhole camera back, it is important to meter the light. Depending on weather conditions and the available light in the scene you are shooting, exposure times can range from several minutes to several hours. Using a lightmeter app such as ‘Lightmeter’ by WBPhoto will help to guide the exposure time and settings you use to shoot. As a rough guide, some times for exposure according to weather conditions are:
- Sunny - 15 to 20 seconds
- Overcast - 60 seconds
- Cloudy - two minutes
- Indoors - 30 to 60 minutes
- Nighttime - Multiple hours
For more accurate exposure time calculations, try using the Ilford Photo Exposure Disk.
What Is the Process for Developing an 8x10 Pinhole Camera?
One of the key benefits of using an 8x10 inch back attached to your 4x5 pinhole camera is that you can develop in-camera! All you will need is photographic paper to shoot with and a suitable fixer and developer. To develop your shot, you simply need to insert the developer fluid into the camera followed by the fixer. You will then need to wash your shot using fresh water.
